St Bernards Occupational Therapy department offers technology for the evaluation and rehabilitation of the hand-injured or orthopedic-injured patient. Our Licensed Therapists work closely with the referring physician to maximize the rehabilitation potential. Through purposeful activity, Occupational Therapist assist patients in maximizing their independence and return to a productive and satisfying lifestyle. Hand Therapy is the art and science of rehabilitation for the upper limb which includes the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder girdle. St Bernards Certified Hand Therapy merges Occupational and Physical Therapy practices in the rehabilitation of upper limb function and activity. Using specialized skills assessment, planning and treatment, our Hand Therapists provide therapeutic interventions to prevent dysfunction, restore function, and reverse progression of pathology of the upper limb in order to enhance an individual’s ability to perform activities of daily activity. There are currently 26 Certified Hand Therapist in Arkansas and St Bernards proudly have three on staff.
St. Bernards Occupational Therapy
A Speech Pathologist offers evaluation and rehabilitation of deficits in articulation, auditory comprehension/ expressive language, fluency, voice, cognition, and swallowing. These speech pathology rehabilitation services in Jonesboro are available to those who exhibit communication and/or swallowing deficits secondary to illness, injury, or developmental delay. In addition to the rehabilitation services in Arkansas, our outpatient speech services offer rehabilitation treatment for the Head and Neck Cancer population, regarding voice restoration and swallowing deficits from diagnosis to remission. Rehabilitation services include upper extremity rehabilitation, work hardening, work conditioning, functional capacity evaluation, and progressive lifting evaluation. Our therapists have extensive backgrounds in sports and routinely see injured athletes from every sport. At St. Bernards Sports Medicine, we take pride in providing preventative, post-operative, and rehabilitative care to Northeast Arkansas.
