Nurse Externship
Ease your transition from student to successful registered nurse (RN). If you’re within 12 months of graduation, apply for a paid externship at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. You’ll get valuable on-the-job training from a helpful mentor while enhancing your nursing skills.
Qualifications
To apply for one of our competitive extern positions, you must:
- Be enrolled in an accredited RN program
- Complete basic nursing skills
- Work with us at least eight hours per week (all shifts are self-scheduled)
- Have CPR certification
Applications are open each March and October.
Responsibilities
If chosen for the externship, you’ll care for patients under an RN’s supervision and learn from observation. A variety of clinical areas are available, so you’ll have opportunities to work in settings of your interest. You’ll also become familiar with hospital technology.

Nurse externs find they’re in demand after graduation, and most go on to full-time work at St. Bernards. Think of your externship as a secure stepping stone to a fulfilling career with us.
