Dr. Mitzi scotten joined the practice in 2016. She is a native of Kansas City and completed both nursing and medical degrees from the University of Kansas. After medical school, she went on to Kosair Children’s hospital for a pediatric residency.
Since residency, Dr. Scotten has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings at Children’s Mercy Hospital and University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Scotten has developed a special interest in respiratory conditions and worked for 5 years in the pulmonology section of Children’s Mercy Hospital. At the University of Kansas, Dr. Scotten was the director of the Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis clinic.
Dr. Scotten has a deep love and interest in medical education and directed the medical student rotation for 8 years. She enjoys teaching students from all health care back grounds and has an interest in both health literacy and telemedicine.
Dr. Scotten enjoys treating respiratory conditions and children and families with chronic medical conditions.
Honors for Dr. Scotten include presentations at national meetings on Health care, selection as a Kansas City Star “Top Doc” for 5 years and being selected to the National Board of Medical Examiners to write medical board materials. She has also authored numerous medical articles and book chapters.
Dr. Scotten lives with her husband and their pets: 3 dogs, 2 cockatiels and 2 tortoises. Hobbies include reading, playing the piano, painting and drawing.
