SHARP PHO
St. Bernards Healthcare Associated Regional Providers (SHARP) is a physician hospital organization (PHO) connecting providers, employers and patients to create the best healthcare possible. With more than 4,300 providers and 173 facilities, SHARP is one of the nation’s few PHOs licensed to provide utilization review—an evaluation of the necessity, use and efficiency of healthcare services. This service clinically verifies the proper treatment is given at the appropriate place and time. Utilization review helps keep down the cost of healthcare and ensures value for patients.

History
SHARP, Inc. formed in 1993 through a partnership between St. Bernards Medical Center and the physicians on staff at St. Bernards. The organization has grown to cover more than 528,000 lives in a 290-mile radius of Jonesboro. SHARP offers access to every medical service type in northeast Arkansas and tertiary referral centers in Little Rock, Arkansas, northwest Arkansas and Memphis, Tennessee.
