Get Help

Call 870.932.2800 if you’re worried someone is in danger. We accept both voluntary and involuntary committals, which means we can admit people to our unit even if they don’t choose to come here.

Adult & Geriatric Areas

Patients receive care tailored to their needs in the center’s:

  • Adult area for people ages 18–64
  • Geriatric area for people ages 65 and older, especially those experiencing dementia

In both areas, everything from the furniture to the clothing to the amenities is designed for patient safety. A family doctor checks on patients in the adult area, and a geriatrician (specialist in older-adult health) visits the geriatric area. These physicians may also work with a psychiatrist (mental health doctor) to manage patients’ psychiatric medications.

Treatment & Therapy

Therapists, psychiatrists and nurses collaborate to make a personal treatment plan for each patient. Twice-daily group therapy helps patients build communication and coping skills in a supportive setting.

All patients also take part in activity therapy twice a day because fun and relaxation are important for mental health. They can enjoy games, basketball, piano, reading, making art and socializing.

Family Involvement

Daily and holiday visitation is from 9-10am or you can call 870.932.2800 to reach a patient who tells us they want to talk to you. Therapists may call supportive loved ones to discuss how to help a patient at home.

Leaving the Behavioral Health Center

Adults younger than 65 spend an average of four to five days with us. Geriatric patients usually stay for six or seven days. We try to make sure everyone has a safe environment to go to, and we can help find an assisted living facility or a nursing home if needed.

Continuing Care

Before patients leave, we also:
