Lung Cancer Screening
Annual lung cancer screening is recommended for adults between the ages of 55 and 77 - even if you don’t have any signs or symptoms of lung problems.
A person is diagnosed with lung cancer every two and a half minutes—and more than 150,000 die from it every year. The five-year survival rate is just 17.7 percent—but if it’s caught early enough that rate jumps to 55 percent.
A low-dose CT scan is a quick, painless, non-invasive way to screen your lungs for early signs of cancer. The scan takes less than a minute and doesn’t require any dyes or injections or anything to swallow—just 60 seconds or less for a spiraling CT scan that can find lung abnormalities the size of a grain of rice.
