Diabetes Education

Enjoy a healthier, better and more active life, even with diabetes. Take advantage of St. Bernards Healthcare’s diabetes education program—recognized by the American Diabetes Association for providing complete, accurate advice that helps adults improve their quality of life.

Do I Need Diabetes Education?

You may benefit from St. Bernards Healthcare’s program whether you recently received a diagnosis of the condition or have lived with it for years. We help adults who have prediabetes, type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and gestational (pregnancy) diabetes.

Get Started

Ask your doctor for a referral to diabetes education. Sessions take place at 505 E. Matthews Ave. in Jonesboro. For more information, call St. Bernards Diabetes Management at 870.207.7840.

Benefits of Diabetes Education

When you apply what you learn from St. Bernards, you may:

  • Feel more energetic
  • Avoid health problems linked to diabetes, such as heart disease, stroke, kidney damage, foot wounds, cataracts (vision problems) and nerve damage
  • Be able to do more of your favorite activities

What You’ll Learn

You’ll get helpful information about diabetes that your doctor or family members with diabetes may not be able to provide. Expect to learn:

  • Ways to better manage blood sugar
  • Latest guidelines for enjoying a tasty, healthy diet with diabetes—you don’t necessarily need to cut out your favorite foods
  • Signs and symptoms that it’s time to seek medical attention

If you have an insulin pump or you’re thinking of using one, our diabetes educators can work with pump providers to help you use it.

You’ll learn all the essentials during your first appointment, a one-on-one meeting with a nurse educator. You can return for group classes, depending on your needs and insurance coverage.

Support Group (Lunch and Learn)

No matter where you receive diabetes education, you’re welcome to join the St. Bernards free Diabetes Management Support Group. You and a loved one can attend for fellowship, encouragement, education, cooking and more. To see meeting dates and times, browse our upcoming events.
