Hospital Care at Home

If your illness or injury needs hospital treatment, you may receive care from St. Bernards Medical Center in the comfort of your home. A doctor sees you by video daily, and registered nurses visit in person twice a day. They use technology to monitor your health even when they’re not by your side, so they can respond as soon as you need medical attention. Our hospital is the first in Arkansas to offer you this convenient option.

Do I Qualify for Care at Home?

We may recommend hospital-level support at home after your primary care provider or an emergency doctor orders inpatient treatment. You may be eligible for inpatient care at home if you:

  • Live within 30 minutes of Jonesboro
  • Are at least 18 years old
  • Have a safe home environment, including a support person
  • Don’t need intensive care or other services available only at the hospital

You, your family and our medical team will work together to determine if this option is right for you.

Benefits of Inpatient Care at Home

The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services makes sure we provide safe, high-quality care in patient homes. You and your loved one sleep in your own quiet bedroom, and family and friends can visit with fewer restrictions than in the medical center. You can call a nurse any time you have a question or concern, just as you would from a hospital bed.

Outpatient Care

When you no longer need inpatient care, you may transition to the outpatient level of care at home. A provider will visit to:

  • Check on your health
  • Order medical tests and prescribe medications
  • Explain your condition and treatment plan

We may recommend outpatient services at home if it’s hard for you to travel to a doctor’s office for follow-up appointments. You’ll receive the personalized care you need to get well.
