One-Day Surgery

Many procedures don’t require an overnight stay in the hospital. You’ll go home the same day as treatment at St. Bernards One-Day Surgery Center, located on the first floor of the St. Bernards Surgical and Intensive Care Tower. (View a hospital map.) Treatment will cost less, and you’ll spend most of your recovery at home. Our team will help make sure you have everything you need to heal and stay safe.

Less Invasive Treatment, Faster Recovery

Whenever possible, St. Bernards surgeons take a minimally invasive approach. Instead of making a large incision to see inside your body and treat your condition, the surgeon creates tiny incisions and inserts a tube with a light and camera. The camera sends real-time images to the operating room’s large monitor, which guides your surgeon during treatment.

Robotic Surgery

For some minimally invasive procedures, surgeons use a robotic system with:

  • Imaging and navigation guidance that makes treatment even more precise, safe and effective
  • Arms that move in ways human hands can’t

All minimally invasive procedures affect less of your body than traditional surgery, so you heal faster and with less pain.

Hybrid OR Improves Your Experience

If you need vascular surgery, your procedure may take place in St. Bernards Medical Center’s hybrid operating room (OR). That’s because your blood vessels sometimes need both minimally invasive and open treatment. Surgeons can do both in the hybrid OR, so you get all the care you need at once instead of scheduling two separate procedures. That means less anesthesia, less radiation, fewer side effects and more convenient, affordable care.
