Telehealth Nursing
During your stay at St. Bernards Medical Center, you may see one of our registered nurses by video in addition to the nurses who come to your bedside. Telehealth nursing means more care, and it can improve your experience and outcome.
How It Works
Press your bedside call light to ask to speak to the telehealth nurse, just as you’d request a visit from an in-person nurse. When the telehealth nurse tries to contact you, the camera above the TV in your room lights up, and the TV displays a message that the nurse has called.
Once the call connects, your telehealth nurse asks permission to use a camera in your room. This camera turns on only when you talk to your nurse, and it never records video or audio.
You see the nurse on the TV and talk through the bedside speaker. You may notice our camera moving to focus on you or the equipment in your room.
Your nurse will end the call after helping you, and your TV will return to its normal function.
Family Involvement
Your nurse may bring others into the video call, including your doctor and family members, even if they’re not in the same room. That means your loved ones will hear about your condition, treatment plan and home care instructions if they can’t get to the hospital.
